Directions: Port Craig Village is a backcountry lodge accessible only by foot or helicopter. Situated on the site of the historic sawmilling town of Port Craig, access is normally by foot when walking the Tuatapere Hump Ridge Track or the South Coast Track. Helicopter access is also possible by arrangement.

Port Craig Village is a back country lodge with spacious communal dining areas. It sleeps 40 people with a range of bunk rooms and premium rooms. Services include gas heating and cooking, solar lighting and flush toilets . Cooking and kitchen equipment and pillows are provided.
Lodge managers are stationed at the village in the summer months. Free hot porridge is provided for breakfast. During winter the lodge is unserviced.

Port Craig is the site of a sawmilling town which in the 1920s operated the largest and most modern sawmill in the country. The lodge forms an ideal base for exploring the history of the region. A pleasant day walk can be made to the Percy Burn Viaduct, at 125m long and 36m high the largest of the four wooden viaducts built to carry the tramline taking logs back to the sawmill at Port Craig.

A 5 minute walk takes you down to Mussel Beach where more relics of the sawmilling days are evident. In the bay Hector's dolphins can often be seen and the safe beach provides an opportunity for hardy souls to take a dip in the southern ocean.

Accommodation at Port Craig Village is $45 dollars per person per night during the summer season.

Children 14 and under are half price.
Limited accommodation is available in premium rooms, either twin or double with linen, for $100 per room.
