Waiau Downs is a 1000 acre sheep farm that has 5000 sheep, 20 cattle, 20 wapati deer, 6 farm dogs, a horse, a donkey, a pet pig, hens, pet lambs, and a friendly lab dog. Our friendly staff will ensure you have a great time at Waiau Downs.
FARM TOUR
Transport in 4x4 vehicle with personalized commentary. Be involved with the movement of up to 5000 sheep. You will be able to pat the pet deer in the paddock with other deer. A chance to ride a horse or a donkey. Farm dogs in action. Cows being milked. Feeding pet lambs. Sheep shearing and wool handling.
Have a go at sheep shearing yourself.

Tour takes about 2 hours, but we can arange a time that suits your travel plans.

FISHING TOUR
We supply transport to the banks of the famous Waiau River as well as guides and tuition if required. Fishing rods and gear may be hired from us at a very resonable cost.
The river has an abundance of rainbow and brown trout, and some of our fisherman have caught over 20 fish in an afternoon.
Our prices are very reasonable and although will vary depending on the needs of each fisherman we can organize a half day special for as little as $50 including gear.
