St Patricks School

St Patrick's is a rural Catholic school in the heart of Western Southland providing quality faith based education for pupils ranging from Years 0 - 8.

Our school is well maintained with classrooms which look out onto the beautiful rolling hills and mountain range of the Takitimus, adding to our pleasant family atmosphere of a small country school with small class sizes. Our school roll is currently just under 60 with 3 teachers teaching multi level intergrated programmes. Our smaller numbers ensures plenty of individual attention from each class teacher and allows our pupils a chance to learn, grow and develop into well rounded individuals. Each of our classrooms has a teacher aid.

We offer a variety of programmes that are focused on providing the best academic, sporting and cultural education for your child.

Our school is very well resourced with a supportive Board of Trustees and Friends of the School Committee.

We are a part of the Red Cross and Countdown Breakfast in Schools progamme and encourage healthy eating for our pupils and staff. We participate in the Fruit in Schools programme, with each student being provided with a piece of fresh fruit each day.

Each child is provided with a high visability vest when they start school, which are kindly donated by Solid Energy to ensure each pupil arrives safely to and from school each day.

All students have an opportunity to participate in various sports including Touch Rugby, Basketball, and Hockey and in different tournaments and competitions held in Tuatapere, Winton and Invercargill.

We are lucky to have a qualified junior school teacher taking our pre-school classes. This enables us to deliever the New Zealand Curriculum and can give your child the jump start into school life which is so very important at this age.
