Wakapatu Beach - Island

One end of Wakapatu Beach features a small rocky island that is easily accessible at low tide by walking through the shallow stretch of water between the rocks and the island. This is easily done by even the smallest children and can be quite an adventure exploring the island, rocks and rock pools, hunting for paua shells and interesting critters. Or just stand out on the rocks and enjoy the waves crashing against the island.

Just be careful not to get caught out by the tide, or the walk back might not be as much fun!
